A friend got a quote of 'about $1500' for a 1 week rental of a 17 foot truck from Juneau to Salem, Oregon, plus $40 for an extra day. Comes the day of pickup, there is a minimum rental period of 12 days, at "U-haul's policy requirements"! 12 days to go no more than 1500 miles, with a mileage allowance at this 12 day rate of over 4000 miles. Upon questioning this new rate of over $2500, the manager said my friend could just 'drive it around for a few days' to use up the time! My friend is stopping payment to this liar while she files a formal complaint with the Alaska Consumer Division, and possibly the Attorney General's office with the state of Alaska. Beware, and very careful if you MUST (there are other dealers in Juneau) deal with this sack of a person. He and his nitwit counter person are not honest people. NO STARS for this outfit!
