Done this twice. It's pretty awesome up there. And the way up too... There's a restaurant and gift shop up there. You can continue to hike up if you would like and you get stunning scenario. It's not a difficult hike just wear good appropriated shoes. It's located right downtown, easy access and close to the ship Pier if you're cruising. We really loved this ride up the mountain. We were hoping for a view, but the clouds did not really ruin the day! Our host on the tram was Nick and he did such a great job of informing and entertaining us. He really has a talent for this! The self-guided hike at the top was really fun and we totally enjoyed getting out being with nature. The trail was well marked and safe. Many view points and on a clear day it would have been magnificent. Great place to visit. One of Juneau’s main attractions. Head out from one of the busiest tourist hubs up to top of Mount Roberts. On high cloud cover days or sunny days, get an amazing view overlooking Downtown Juneau and see Douglas all the way across the channel. Once you make the 5-7 minute trip to the top, explore the restaurant, the eagle rescue center, a small movie theater showing the history of Juneau, or take the trails at the top for some of the best high altitude photography of Juneau. Tram ride was scary, but only because it went all the way up the mountain. Completely safe though. There is a trail once you get to the top. There's also an eagle you can visit. For $30+ you get to ride up to a gift shop. Whoever designed the overlook decided to place it right under the tower for the tram so that 90° of your viewing angle is lattice support structure. Also, my coffee was lukewarm. Two stars is being generous. If you are able-bodied, hike to the top.
