Go elsewhere. I flew with AK Flight Center when in Juneau for a couple months in 2011. Wallace is a nice guy on the ground and technically knowledgeable, but in the air he was testy, confusing, and often, perhaps unintentionally, just mean. His main plane is an ancient Cessna 172E that is underpowered, not well maintained, and I found the old design much harder to fly than newer 172's. Flying with him once totally burned me out on flying in Juneau until I heard that the other place in town, ASA, was a totally different experience, and it was. Most of Wallace's students and potential renters apparently end up switching schools.
