This place is not fancy but it is nice and clean. Service is warm and friendly. Bar is a kick and you can dine in there as well. Had an excellent meal with "Blue Cheese Halibut and Coconut Shrimp". Drink prices are very fair. Excellent IGA Market and liquor store close by. Walking distance to town, great harbor view and the Alaska state museum is next door. Location is good, About a half mile from heart of downtown. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our bathroom had a weird smell that just lingered and the shower faucet wasn't secured to the wall well. We had a first floor room and there was a walking trail right past our room which made for little privacy if we wanted the curtains open (Which why wouldn't you when you have beautiful mountains all around). Overall fine but could use some attention to maintenance. Older hotel but the staff was extremely nice! Very close to downtown. Its nothing over the top but overall a pleasant experience. Great space for a social gathering. Large, beautiful view, friendly staff. I met with family for brunch at the Prospector. The food was great: Prime Rib, custom omelets, cheese cake... All very good. The price was significantly less than I expected. I would definitely recommend it very highly.
