Excellent place for bird and airplane watching. Family and dog friendly. Great place for walking, jogging, biking, and observing nature. Wild flowers and pollinators abound in spring and summer. This is a favorite spot for migratory birds so bring binoculars! Waterproof shoes and tidal awareness a must if venturing towards Gastineau Channel. The trailhead to the wetlands also affords great views of Juneau International Airport. Hang out abeam the runway for airliners, helicopters, Hercules, F-16s, and other wonders; or abeam the pond for fantastic views of cool seaplanes such as De Havilland Otters and Beavers (thank you Canada!!!), or lovely Piper Cubs and Super Cubs, as well as the occasional Cessna Caravan on floats. This site is unlike any other! So beautiful! Pictures just don't do it justice!
