Beautiful memorial to the 690 men who went down on the Juneau during the battle for Guadalcanal in 1942. About 140 survived the torpedo explosion and got into the water. Over 8 days the sharks ate all but 10 . There were five Sullivan brothers on the ship....all who perished, and four Rogers brothers who before the battle felt a bad omen...two of them transferred to another ship so if the Juneau was sunk that some of them survived.....it happened and two Rogers brothers survived.
