  I have struggled with acne and scaring since my early teen years. I have combination skin that is also very sensitive so it's hard to find products or treatments that don't leave my face too dry or irritated. Before discovering Blue Mussel I had tried countless products, home remedies, and prescriptions, among other treatments, and would only see temporary results. I started with dermasweeps at Blue Mussel and then started on laser treatments shortly after. Between the two treatments my skin has cleared and stayed that way. The friendly and knowledgeable staff members also helped me establish a skin routine using skin ceuticals that helps keep my skin glowing! I highly recommend Blue Mussel, especially to those who feel like they have tried everything without the results that they desire. Blue Mussell Aesthetics is by far the best spa in Juneau (possibly the PNW). I receive chemical peels , laser hair removal, derma-planing and laser facials. The results have been amazing! I highly recommend this spa! At 31 years, I’ve struggled with mild to moderate acne since I was 15. Having tried what seems like hundreds of products (including the Proactive system and almost everything you can find in the store today) and even a few prescriptions, none have brought me close to the corrective results that Blue Mussel helped me reach after consultation and some combined treatment methods. The immense improvement took a little over 8 weeks- with visibly noticeable results beginning around 4 weeks. I recommend Blue Mussel without hesitation for acne control and overall facial skin improvement. We discussed some of the treatments I had attempted in the past, we discussed some habits I could change to help with maintaining control of acne, and we discussed some solutions Blue Mussel could help with. She was very confident that the procedures below would allow me to get my acne under control---Not only was she right, but she also helped me find some products I could use at home to maintain that control. DermaSweep: This is my favorite procedure! It is very relaxing and sort of feels like an exfoliating massage. I noticed a difference in the overall “glow” of my skin immediately after my first time having DermaSweep. We focused on my face but used this procedure on my neck a couple of times too. Laser therapy: At first, the fact that this procedure uses a “laser” made me nervous about it. But it is quite relaxing as well---and they can provide lots of information on the details of the process. Again, we focused on my face. While the DermaSweep is my favorite, the combination of alternating the two produced great results (see more below). Results: This treatment took some time; it was all about delayed gratification! 12 weeks after my first appointment my skin looks great. I’ve had complements from my partner, co-workers, friends, and family---sometimes they aren’t even sure “what it is” about me. But I definitely notice the differences like the even tone, that “glow” that I’m still trying to find the words to describe, and (above all) the significant reduction in acne. In my 30’s, I guess I figured it wouldn’t be as quick and easy as grabbing a bottle of something off the shelf at the drug store, but I’m so grateful that there is a solution, it’s enjoyable, and it’s sustainable. ☺
