We had a great experience with Chris. We got into a bunch of salmon even in the late season. Chris picked us up on time at the cruise ship and dropped us off at an awesome restaurant he recommended. The following is only reason I didn't give 5 stars. We lost a couple fish and ended up losing the tackle. Chris was quite frustrated about losing the tackle and it showed. He even gave us an accounting of how much he had lost that day in dollars. Not professional, that is the cost of doing business. Overall awesome experience and would recommend Rum Runner. Absolutely LOVED Captain Chris & Captain Troy of Rum Runner. These men are knowledgeable with clean boats and great attitudes. I can see why my family books with Rum Runner every single time they are in Alaska. I can't wait to come back again and again. OMG amazing day. Chris is a great captain--experienced (we needed that in the thick fog to get out into the clear channel, couldnt' see a thing!), honest (very fair on prices!) and flexible & easygoing. He really went above and beyond for us. Two of us booked a 4-hour charter--it's all I could talk my partner into, as she tends to get seasick. But salmon! I insisted. We got out of the pea soup and into the fish. Chris told us how to do everything and made it easy, and has the knowledge to find us the fish--even at the end of the season! (Maybe it was luck, but a good captain sure doesn't hurt!) We each caught the limit of 6 Cohos and have 40+ lbs of fish to ship home! Other bonuses: He easily agreed to stay out a little longer when we were feeling good & catching fish. Most people don't get to limit out, he said, and he was happy to help us do that! He took care to make sure Michelle was still feeling happy on the boat, and had even picked up scones for us. Afterwards, he beheaded the fish & took out the guts, getting things ready for processing. Finally, he went with us to the fish processor (that would've been an interesting Uber ride!) to make sure we could get our fish done in the couple days we had before we flew home. Erin the Deckhand and Brandi the dog were awesome too. Felt safe, had a fun time, and did I mention salmon? Chris is the real deal. This is definitely the way to see whales and other wildlife in Alaska. We felt just like locals out on a very nice fishing boat. Saw Humpback Whales, Killer Whales, Sea-lions, Porpoises, and Eagles!! My wife is a photographer and thought she had died and gone to heaven AND they picked us up from the Cruise Ship. If only customer service was like this in Texas. Oh well.
